The barn on Katie's property in Roxbury, CT serves as her private studio. Originally, it was the art studio of Leonard Weisgard, the children's book illustrator, who had it built in 1954. Weisgard loved the Old Ship Meeting House in Hingham, Massachusetts, and had the barn built completely after the way the original building was constructed – without nails, but with dowels and hand hewn beams that were hand cut with traditional tools.
